"My childhood was okay until we moved to Chicago, where I was bullied and tortured by other kids for 4-5 years. Even after moving back to California, I was never the same happy kid again. In 2015, my daughter was taken away from me. In 2018, I started using drugs with my best friend, which led me to a lifestyle I didn't want. I became homeless, living on the streets and in and out of tents. Although we were together, we often fought, leaving me alone and on drugs. This continued until July 2022 when my poor choices landed me in jail. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I connected with a case worker who sent me to the Modesto Gospel Mission. Here, I'm learning to find myself without drugs, dealing with my depression, and growing closer to God. Since being here, I have found support in my sisters and friends, and I'm excited to share my journey with you."
