Transformation is at the heart of everything that God does, and at the Modesto Gospel Mission this is exactly the goal we have. Watching lives being radically altered is a miracle that God is performing each day, and we are all part of this amazing work. His grace and mercy are still effecting change in the lives of those who trust in Him. The words of Romans 12:2 are still alive and active today: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” Even though over two thousand years have passed since this verse was written, the same fallen nature exists, and the same formula is needed: repentance and transformation. Thank you for all that you do as volunteers, donors, and prayer agents of the Modesto Gospel Mission.

I grew up in a very dysfunctional family. This dysfunction in my home eventually led me to drug and alcohol addiction. After a long and hard battle with addiction and a very toxic marriage that ended in 2015, my life plummeted into a downward spiral. I lost my home, my career as a phlebotomist, and my car; I damaged relationships with my children, my family, my church family, and God. I spent two years homeless living in a park and one year incarcerated. During my time in jail, I found myself reading the Bible and sharing my testimony with the other inmates. I knew I needed to make a change in my life. Someone told me about the Modesto Gospel Mission and encouraged me to give them a call. I spoke with Chaplain Anna who encouraged me to join the New Life Program. After my release from jail, I entered the New Life Program at the Mission and I have been here ever since. Thanks to the Mission, my relationship with God, my children and family are back on track and continue to grow each day. God has continued to work in my life and open doors for me. I am thankful that God brought me to the Modesto Gospel Mission.

LOVE

We hear a lot about “love,” and not just around Valentine’s Day. Everyone wants and needs love. That’s what drives so many of us to make really bad choices at times – looking for love in all the wrong places! Here at the Mission we learn that true love comes from God. The Bible tells us what real love is: God sent Christ to die for us while we were still sinners! We weren’t even looking for Jesus when God reached down and offered us New Life - we were still sinners! Now that, my friend, is real love – lasting love! Love that no one can take away from us! Do you know that love? That’s why the Mission is here – to point us to Jesus and His unfailing love!
Again we want to thank YOU, our faithful partners in the ongoing ministry of hope and healing at the Modesto Gospel Mission! It truly would not be possible without you! Our prayer is for God’s continued blessing in your life, as you bless us with your ongoing gifts and prayers. Thank you for sharing the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, true love that lasts for eternity!
God’s special blessing,
Pastor Jack Copland
