The Easter holiday is now mostly known in our culture for Easter egg hunts, Peter Cottontail & the Bunny Trail, and chocolate versions of both bunnies and eggs. Yet when one considers the true meaning of this holy-day, one discovers the crucified and risen God-Man Jesus. For we know that Easter is not just a holiday, it is the very foundation of our hope and faith in the resurrection power of God. We celebrate Good Friday as a remembrance of the price Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. And yet Jesus conquered Hell, death, and the grave on Resurrection Sunday! The words of Luke 24:6-7 echo these facts when the angel states "He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'" Today, 2 millennia later, the reality of Jesus is still the same: He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! The Resurrected Jesus is still performing miracles here at the Mission, and it is His power that brings about true life transformation. Blessings to each of you as you gather with family and friends during this Easter holiday, enjoying the promise and power of the Risen King.

My name is Bryon Nolan. I am 11 years old. I have been coming to the Youth Center at the Modesto Gospel Mission for nine months. I love the colorful walls in the building and how fun and Kid-like it feels when I am there. I love all the staff here, the devotions, and the free food. Before I started coming, I was doing nothing productive after school. I was watching TY and getting no exercise. I am definitely more active now. On November 7th, 2022, I was sworn in as a Junior Volunteer by Mrs. Green, the Youth Center Manager. I help serve behind a counter after school and for dinner. I help clean and I assist staff with devotions occasionally. I want to keep coming to the Youth Center until I am 18 years old, and then I would like to be a regular Volunteer after that. The Youth Center gifted me a violin which i enjoy playing, I also play the guitar. I am the Secretary at my school on the student council. I love performing in the school chorus and any other performing arts.

Easter: A beautiful season of hope, promise, and new life! Yet a story of tragedy that God turns to triumph! The tragedy of our sin, and the suffering Jesus endured to pay the penalty for that sin. But friends, that is the triumphant Easter message! We have the promise of forgiveness when we confess our sins and turn to Christ. We sing the Easter hymn, "Man of Sorrows, what a name; For the Son of God who came; Ruined sinners to reclaim! Hallelujah! What a Savior!" The Bible tells us that the same power God demonstrated in raising our precious Savior from the grave is available to us to live a life that glorifies Him! (Philippians 3:10)
That's the wonderful message the Mission graciously shares with each of our guests who come. No fairy tales-no "soft" gospel. But the life-changing message of forgiveness, redemption, and hope for a changed life in Christ.
A very special "thank you" to our faithful and generous friends who help support the life-changing ministry here at the Modesto Gospel Mission! Our prayer is that you and your loved ones will be overwhelmingly blessed this Easter season, as we are reminded of the powerful message of our risen Savior!
God’s special blessing,
Pastor Jack Copland
